We purchased our tickets to St. Kitts this morning!! We fly out of Miami next Monday January 23rd and will arrive three hours later!
I feel like we’ve been waiting a lifetime to get there but I know it’s only been a few weeks. We are so excited to finally be going… to settle into the house we’ve already been paying rent on… to enjoy our home for the next two years… and to finally start working!
The next few days are likely to be a whirlwind of activity! Today we will be boxing up the winter clothes we’ve been wearing and making sure all of the summer clothes we are bringing are washed and packed. My husband has been on the phone all morning letting people know we are leaving and canceling outstanding contracts (like our cell phone carriers).
Tomorrow we will drive everything we are shipping to a trucking company nearby. They will deliver our belongings to Miami where they will be shipped by boat to St. Kitts. Hopefully we won’t have to go too long without our stuff!
Friday will be the day we finish up any last minute tasks, rent a car and enjoy time with family.
Saturday we will spend the day (about 13 hours) driving to southern Florida to stay with some friends. Sunday we will rest up and Monday we drive to Miami and fly to St. Kitts!
Next week we will be focusing on buying a vehicle, getting internet hooked up and getting the stuff we shipped from customs (hopefully it will be there by then!) So the next time I update this blog will likely be after those things have happened… obviously I won’t be able to until we have internet at our house!
If you want to pray for us in the meantime here are a few requests:
- Travel safety (driving and flying)
- Our belongings to get to St. Kitts intact
- Customs not to charge us a lot of money to get our things from the port
- To find a vehicle quickly and for us to settle in easily
